Vocalists serenade the audience at Bhilwara Sur Sangam

India’s rich cultural heritage of classical music was recently celebrated at Kamani Auditorium with Bhilwara Sur Sangam 2023, an Indian classical music festival that successfully reached its 10-year milestone. The first day of the festival showcased a remarkable performance by the renowned vocalist Padma Shri Aruna Sairam, who mesmerized the audience with her emotive interpretations of classical compositions.

Sairam’s exceptional talent and expertise in classical music were on full display as she paid tribute to the diverse musical traditions of India, capturing the authentic essence of Bhilwara Sur Sangam. Her soulful renditions captivated the audience, leaving a lasting impression of her artistry.

Chairman of the LNJ Bhilwara Group, Ravi Jhunjhunwala, remarked, “Sairam’s performance is a testament to her extraordinary talent and deep passion for music. She is a legendary figure in the realm of Indian classical music.” The audience erupted into resounding applause as she delivered mesmerizing interpretations of classical pieces.

The second day of the festival witnessed captivating performances by Vinayak Chittar and Pt Mukul Shivputra, further enthralling the gathered crowd.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and their daughter Aaradhya looked resplendent in their traditional attire as they attended the concert of renowned sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan at Mumbai’s NCPA. Abhishek, who learned the sarod under the guidance of ‘Guru Amjad’, shared a delightful video from the performance on his social media. In an Instagram post, he expressed his joy and honor witnessing the brilliance of Amjad Ali Khan, along with the young talents Zohaan and Abeer, who are continuing the family’s musical legacy.

Reminiscing about his childhood days of learning the Sarod alongside Amaan and Ayaan under their Guru Amjad uncle, Abhishek fondly shared the experience. Although he didn’t pursue the instrument further due to moving to a boarding school, he expressed immense pride in seeing Amaan and Ayaan grow into wonderful students and children, making their parents proud.

Abhishek praised Amaan and Ayaan for passing on the legacy by teaching their sons classical music and keeping the family’s musical heritage alive. He regarded the sight of three generations performing together as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and expressed his confidence in the future of Indian classical music being in safe hands.
